The Inspiration Behind Muddy’s Buddies Doggie Daycare:

On January 11, 2023, my sweet boy Muddy woke up and couldn’t walk. I rushed him to the vet, and after tests and scans, I learned that his vertebrae had given out. One of my only options was spinal surgery, which gave him a 50/50 chance of walking again. Of course, I chose to go through with the surgery, hoping for the best. After six long months of recovery and therapy, Muddy never regained the use of his back legs. He is now paralyzed in his hind legs—but if you met him, you’d never know! He doesn’t let anything slow him down. I got him a set of Eddie’s Wheels, but he prefers to scoot everywhere at lightning speed. Stairs? No problem. He just keeps going, always happy, always full of love. Muddy’s strength, resilience, and joy for life have inspired me in so many ways—including the name of my doggie daycare. He reminds me every day that obstacles don’t define us, and happiness is about adapting and finding new ways to enjoy life. That’s the kind of spirit I want to bring to Muddy’s Doggie Daycare—an indoor, open-play space designed just for small breeds to run, play, and be their happiest selves.

We’ve got some exciting updates! Muddy’s diaper is embroidered with his name, and he’s all ready for grand opening day. His red tie and shirts are ready to go, and our first set of business cards are in hand! God willing, we’ll be ready for our grand opening by June/July. I’m working through permits and the build-out process because I want to make sure everything is just right. It takes time, but it will all be worth it!
